Lupins in midcoast Maine

Lupins in midcoast Maine

I’m (Denise) always looking for something for breakfast food because I just can’t seem to get on board with the idea of eating lunch and dinner food for breakfast, which is an excellent strategy many food allergy peeps employ. Sigh. Fork and Beans has a Vegan Chickpea Omelet that I might be able to try if I leave out the nutritional yeast.

FARE’s blog has an article about a recent study from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) published in the January 2015 issue of Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, showing that only 16 percent of people using epinephrine injectors for a severe allergic reaction did so correctly in the study. That’s not good. Read your instructions. Use your trainer. Do a drill. Practice with your significant other or people who are around who might have to stab you with it. And do your emergency plan!

Looking at more information on the microbiome — this is fascinating to me, and it makes sense that if we’ve messed up the natural balance of our own personal ecosystems, we will have issues. The amount of information we do not have about how the systems of our bodies interact still astounds me.

I’m feeling a need for some new recipes, new ideas. These “pulled” barbequed carrots and this pizza french toast just might do it.

Have a great weekend everyone!
